This transformative precinct integrates elite sport, community participation, education, and research in a single, world-class environment. The project was delivered under a staged program and included comprehensive project management and superintendent services across all phases. The scope included:

A 6-star Green Star certified basketball stadium-the first of its kind in Australia

9 indoor courts, including a 1,500-seat show court

AFL-standard senior and junior ovals akin to the MCG

3 synthetic and 2 natural grass football pitches

A baseball diamond and multi-use synthetic tablet for baseball and soccer

A dedicated pavilion with change rooms and function space

200 car parks and over 31,000m² of landscaped public realm

Professional sports medicine consulting suites and world-class teaching and research laboratories

Office accommodation for 200 staff from state and community sporting organisations

A conference and training centre to support community sport development.

Stakeholder Involvement including Public Sector Agencies

This project demonstrates strong integration across public sector agencies and community organizations, with La Trobe University, LTU Sport, Banyule Council, VSBA, and education partners working alongside Rugby Victoria and the Football Federation of Victoria to align sporting infrastructure and shared-use facilities. The collaboration between Rugby Victoria and Football Federation of Victoria is particularly significant, ensuring coordinated planning and delivery of multi-sport precincts that meet diverse stakeholder needs.

Project Outcomes

The project delivered Australia’s first 6-star Green Star certified basketball stadium, marking a major milestone in sustainable sports infrastructure. It was delivered in collaboration with key stakeholders-including La Trobe University, Banyule Council, Rugby Victoria, Football Victoria, the VSBA, and Charles La Trobe College-ensuring that Stages 1 and 2 were completed on time and within budget, while Stage 3 progressed toward completion in alignment with the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
