Hume Valley Special Development School

The Hume Valley Special Developmental School (SDS) project was a major redevelopment initiative delivered under the Victorian School Building Authority to create modern, inclusive learning environments tailored to students with disabilities. The project focused on transforming the school’s facilities through a combination of new construction and strategic refurbishment, ensuring classrooms, therapy spaces, and outdoor play areas meet contemporary standards for accessibility, safety, and specialised support. By modernising the campus, the upgrade enhances the school’s ability to deliver high-quality educational opportunities and accommodate the growing needs of the local community.

As part of the redevelopment, the middle secondary building underwent extensive refurbishment, complemented by the construction of two new wings. The east wing incorporates five new learning bases, two resource-intensive learning areas, and additional staff workspaces, while the west wing features two further learning base spaces. The project also delivered a new project yard, improved staff areas, the removal of five outdated locatable buildings, and upgraded landscaping and horticulture zones. Together, these works create a cohesive, purpose-built environment that supports both student learning and staff wellbeing.
