The Richmond Primary School project is a major modernisation and expansion initiative under the Victorian School Building Authority, designed to enhance the school’s learning environment and increase capacity to accommodate an additional 100 students. The redevelopment includes the demolition of an existing two-storey building (Block B) and construction of a new, state-of-the-art three-storey facility that will seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure through Level 1 link bridges. Thoughtfully planned for a constrained urban site, the project maximises vertical build opportunities to preserve the school’s highly valued outdoor spaces, ensuring students continue to benefit from essential play and activity areas throughout construction.
Extensive consultation with teachers, the principal, and the school council has shaped a future-ready facility that supports contemporary teaching practices and provides flexible, innovative learning zones. The school will remain operational during construction, supported by a carefully managed safety strategy that isolates works from students, staff, and the broader community. Once complete, the modernised campus will deliver improved learning spaces, enhanced functionality, and a dynamic environment that meets the evolving needs of Richmond Primary School and its growing community.
