Lisa Bellear House is a purpose-built student accommodation project for the University of Melbourne, located at 303-309 Royal Parade, within easy walking distance of the Parkville campus. The development involved the adaptive reuse of the former Salvation Army Training facility, featuring an extensive internal refurbishment, a striking rear six-storey extension, and a rejuvenated façade. The facility provides 285 student beds in a mix of single and twin studios, as well as 4- and 5-bed cluster rooms, catering to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Communal spaces are thoughtfully dispersed throughout the building, including dedicated study areas, a music rehearsal studio, games room, sporting facilities, and a scenic roof terrace with panoramic views over Princes Park and Royal Park. The design was informed by the University’s commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive atmosphere, with regular social and academic activities influencing the placement and character of the communal areas.
