The Specialist Family Violence Trance 2 Program involved expansion and refurbishment across 7 separate courthouses to provide safe and equitable facilities and access to justice for victims of family violence.
The Dandenong Magistrates’ Court Project included the demolition and decommissioning of existing facilities within the court to be repurposed as a separate court access and safe waiting areas, a new courtroom, remote witness facilities, interview rooms and support functions.
Stakeholder Involvement including Public Sector Agencies
Videre was required to manage extensive stakeholder groups (both internal and external) and all with competing priorities. Internal stakeholders included Magistrate’s Court, CSV AVIT, CSV Security and CSV OH&S. External stakeholders who required consultation and input for use within the final built form included Victoria Police and Victoria Legal Aid.
Project Outcomes
Management of works within a live, operating Courthouse to minimise impact to operations of the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria. Scheduled works and managed strict noisy works controls to ensure court hearings could proceed adjacent to delivery of construction works.
Prioritised delivery to a tight budget, with the intent of returning surplus funding from the project to ease budget pressures to the wider Program of works.
Required agile delivery and design response to modify deliverables during construction based on changing security, OH&S and AV standards to ensure facilities were fit-for-purpose and met the requirements of the courts.
