The Angel of Malvern is a three-level village of venues crafted to form the new heart of the neighbourhood, featuring a vibrant public bar with a courtyard beer garden, elevated mediterranean dining on level one and a late-night cocktail bar on the top level. The venue will redefine Malvern’s social scene, delivering in-demand event spaces and experiences that reflect Kokoda’s ambition to create lively, design-driven destinations at the centre of the community. Works include the restoration of The Angel to honour the history of the venue while shaping its next chapter.
Works include the full fit-out of a bar within one of the heritage façade interfaces, seamlessly integrating contemporary social spaces with the preserved historical character.
Stakeholder Involvement including Public Sector Agencies
A range of stakeholders have contributed to this project, including Local Council, Utility Authorities, Vic Roads, Vic Rail, Metro and Yarra Trams. Videre have been involved in liaising with Public Sector stakeholders and have facilitated discussions and outcomes that have been integral to the project.
Project Outcomes
The Angel of Malvern is on track to deliver a revitalised, multi-level hospitality destination that blends contemporary social spaces with restored heritage elements, establishing a new cultural anchor point for the neighbourhood. As works progress within a highly visible urban setting and in close proximity to recently completed apartment developments, the project continues to require careful planning and precise management to minimise disruption, maintain public interface safety, and ensure high-quality execution befitting its prominent location.
